In this project, I created a stylized grass material for the "Forest Escape" environment using Substance Designer. The material is designed to add vibrancy and visual interest to the forest floor, enhancing the immersive experience for the player.
The grass material features a bright green color with hints of yellow, giving it a fresh and inviting appearance. The blades of grass are stylized with slightly exaggerated curves and bends, adding to the overall whimsical and fantastical atmosphere of the environment.
To achieve this look, I utilized a combination of procedural textures and hand-painted details. The material includes a range of maps, such as diffuse, normal, and roughness, to ensure the grass reacts naturally to lighting and other environmental factors.
The stylized grass material is used in Unreal Engine, which utilizes runtime virtual texture to achieve the right blend of colors for the grass. This technology allows for high-quality textures and realistic materials to be rendered in real-time, adding to the immersive experience of the environment.
In addition, the material was designed to be scalable and easily modifiable, allowing for customization to fit different areas of the forest environment. Whether it's a dense forest floor or a clearing bathed in sunlight, the stylized grass material adapts seamlessly to its surroundings.
In addition, this stylized grass material is available for purchase on the Artstation store, allowing other artists to use it in their own projects. The material comes with both the texture maps and the Substance Designer graph, giving artists the flexibility to customize the material to their specific needs. Whether it's for game development or 3D visualization projects, this stylized grass material can add a unique touch to any environment.
