Valiente

Inspired by Abel Oroz's fantastic Conquistador concept, Valiente was a lighthearted project that gave me the perfect excuse to sculpt a charming little explorer who looks equally ready for adventure and getting lost at sea. Bringing the character to life in ZBrush was an absolute blast, especially exaggerating the shapes, folds, and quirky proportions to push the stylized look as far as possible.

The biggest challenge was creating the oxidized bronze material. Getting that weathered seaside statue feel took a lot of tweaking to find the sweet spot between aged metal, colorful patina, and a clean stylized presentation. I wanted it to feel like this brave little conquistador had been standing on a windswept harbor for centuries, collecting stories—and probably a few seagulls along the way.

The final renders were created in Marmoset Toolbag, where I could really bring out the material details, soft lighting, and playful personality of the piece.
